Join Our Team
Is God calling you to join our team? We're looking for an Associate Pastor to join our church whānau (family) and staff team to equip us to be growing as mature disciples of Jesus and reaching people with the gospel.
Associate Pastor
We are an evangelical Baptist church whānau (family), meeting in the heart of Mt Roskill. We are made up of a wide variety of ages, ethnicities and backgrounds, but united in our love of Jesus and what He has done for us. As His followers, we are keen to see God's Kingdom come in our own lives and in our community.
Our vision at Mt Roskill Baptist is to be a Family of Nations; Followers of Jesus, and we prayerfully pursue that at Roskill by considering God’s heart for his people under five grand threads or purposes that play out across the whole of the storyline of Scripture.
We summarise them like this – God’s heart for all of his people is that we are a church*:
-
Enjoying God in wonder of him
-
Reaching people with the Gospel
-
Belonging together as whānau (family),
-
Growing to maturity in Christ
-
Serving together as a body
We’re looking for an Associate Pastor to join our church whānau (family) and staff team to equip us to be growing as mature disciples of Jesus and reaching people with the gospel. Ideally that looks like leading our growing and reaching purposes, or, depending on the gifting and experience of the pastor, leading one or more of our other purposes to free up our existing team.
The Associate Pastor role is a full time position, although for the right applicant we would consider part time. You’ll be a key part of our ministry team leading and serving Mt Roskill Baptist Church. Regular responsibilities include:
-
Preaching and Teaching
-
Pastoral Care for our church whānau (family)
-
Overseeing the growing and reaching purposes for ministry
To apply you’ll need to be qualified to serve as an overseer in God’s church by fulfilling the Biblical requirements (e.g. 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1), have received theological education and have ministry experience. Please refer to the detailed Position Description and accompanying documents below for further information.
Please note that applicants for this position should preferably have New Zealand residency or a valid work visa. Applications will be considered as they are received.
Apply by sending a CV and cover letter to dave@roskillbaptist.com, or just drop us an email to start the conversation.
* Note it’s common in some churches using a similarly structure to think about ministry to refer to these purposes as Magnification, Mission, Membership, Maturity, and Ministry.
